The Martini entered Porsche 917LH of Vic Elford and Gerard Larrousse was one of three Langheck 917's in the race. The aerodynamic design proved highly successful on the long Mulsanne straight and the cars qualified 1-2-3. However all three would succumb to some form of engine failure during the race leaving the Martini 917K of Marko and van Lennep to take the victory. The mighty 917 Langhecks would never race again.
